Complete onboarding
Finish first-time setup by answering two questions, choosing Free, Plus or Pro, and opening your ready-made starter plan (sample layout).
Onboarding in Event Design App is the one-time, two-step welcome setup shown after your first sign-in, for every new account. In Step 1 you pick your role and what you design; in Step 2 you choose Free, Plus or Pro. Free opens a ready-made starter plan right away, while Plus and Pro go through checkout first.
Your first sign-in ends at a setup screen, and a paid plan sends you out to checkout partway through. Here is exactly what the two steps ask, what happens when you finish, and how to recover if checkout is interrupted.
You only do this once. It has two steps, shown by the dots at the bottom of the first screen.
Step 1: What does onboarding ask about me?
The first onboarding screen is titled Tell Us About Yourself and asks two questions.
I am a lets you choose one role. This is required.
I mainly design lets you choose one or more categories. At least one is required.
Choose Next. It stays disabled until both questions are answered.
Your answers are used to match a starter template, a ready-made plan (a sample layout or seating chart you can edit) that opens first, so pick what you most often build rather than what you hope to build.

Back to registration returns you to the Register page.
Step 2: Which plan should I choose?
The second onboarding screen is titled Your starter template is ready. It repeats your answers as chips, then shows Choose your plan.

Prices and monthly credit amounts are shown live on each card, so they are not repeated here. Under the cards, How credits work lists what each AI feature costs. Credits are spent only when you run an AI feature.
Free is selected by default. The main button is named after your choice: Get started with Free, Get started with Plus or Get started with Pro. Choose it to finish.
Free: the app prepares your starter workspace and opens the editor on your starter plan.
Plus or Pro: you are redirected to a secure Stripe checkout first. After payment you return and onboarding completes automatically, then the starter plan opens.
Back returns to Step 1 with your answers kept.
⚠ Paid plans send you out to Stripe to pay (subscribe). Your role, design choices and plan are saved for about an hour so you can come back from checkout. If you wait longer than that, you may need to re-select your answers.
⚠ Paid cards can be disabled. If pricing has not loaded, Plus and Pro cannot be selected and you will see a message that pricing is unavailable. Choose Free to continue, then upgrade from Subscription in the account menu once pricing loads.
Troubleshooting
The Next button is greyed out. Choose a role under I am a and at least one option under I mainly design.
No options appear, or "Failed to load onboarding options." Refresh the page. If the options are still empty, the screen says you can skip onboarding and start from the dashboard.
Stripe checkout was cancelled. You left checkout without paying. Your answers are restored; choose a plan and try again, or pick Free.
I paid but landed back on onboarding with an error. The app could not finish setup after checkout. Choose the same plan and continue; if it keeps failing, contact support with your account email.
It says onboarding is already complete. Nothing is wrong; you are sent straight to the dashboard.
I want a different plan than the one I picked. Change it later from Subscription in the account menu. It is not locked in.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the Next button greyed out during onboarding?
Next stays disabled in onboarding until both questions on Step 1 are answered. Choose one role under I am a, and at least one category under I mainly design. Once both are selected, Next becomes available and you can continue to Step 2 to choose your plan.
What happens if I cancel Stripe checkout during onboarding?
If you leave checkout without paying, you see Stripe checkout was cancelled. Your answers are restored, so you can choose a plan and try again, or select Free to continue without paying. You can upgrade later from Subscription in the account menu.
I paid for Plus or Pro but landed back on onboarding with an error. What should I do?
The app could not finish your setup after checkout. Choose the same plan and continue onboarding. Your role and design choices are saved for about an hour. If the error keeps appearing, contact support and include your account email so they can check your payment and finish your setup.
Can I change my plan after onboarding?
Yes. The plan you pick during onboarding is not locked in. Open Subscription from the account menu at any time to compare plans and credits and upgrade. If you chose Free, you can move to Plus or Pro later, for example once pricing loads or when you need the AI tools.
Why can't I select Plus or Pro during onboarding?
Plus and Pro cards are disabled when pricing has not loaded, and you see a message that pricing is unavailable. Choose Free to continue and reach the editor with your starter plan. Once pricing loads, open Subscription from the account menu to upgrade to Plus or Pro.
